Award-Winning Hot Rod Car That Was Never Meant To Drive
The Custom Fire Truck Hot Rod
I the 1960s Chuck Miller ran as speciality car custom workshop down in Detroit. Hits outfit was meant to chuck out vehicles that could win awards and attract attention. One of his designs was the Fire Truck, an interesting combination of several architectural, design and practical ideas that were really never meant to hit the street or any strip or even get off to put out some fire somewhere.
But Miller’s work at the garage was never to go without appropriate reward. The Fire Truck was followed by several other creations including a replica borrowed from the cartoonish series of Zingers.
With his creations, he only won the coveted Ridler award once but kept hitting at the world of custom cars with more creative and provocative items. Chuck Miller is now inducted into the Kustom Kemps of America Hall of Fame and the Darryl Starbird Hall of Fame.
He has also been honored as Builder of the Year at the Detroit Autorama and there is even a book detailing his journey alongside that of Styline Customs. Such men write history in their own way and it is very encouraging to see their efforts being reward accordingly.
